A psychologist (M.A. or Ph.D. in Psych.) specializing in PTSD would be good. You could get a referral from your doctor, hospital, or clinic. Sometimes a friend can refer you. Try your Community Centre or Counselling Center at school.
There is a fundamental difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist…
A psychiatrist is, first and foremost, a medical doctor who has an interest and speciality in the biology and structure of the brain.
A psychologist is someone who studies the processes of learning, conditioning, personality, and doesn’t know as much about the biological processes. They can work in many fields, from education, management, and of course “therapy”.

Medications are usually prescribed by psychiatrists, although some can be prescribed by a family doctor.
Sometimes a psychiatrist works directly with the patient, and sometimes in consultation with the family doctor. Consultation means, for example, that the patient would see the psychiatrist once a year. The psychiatrist would recommend medications to the family doctor. Then the patient would see the family doctor once a month.
